Meteorology Program

How to Visit

CMU's Mount Pleasant Campus

Over the course of the year, there are two "open house" type opportunities to visit the program.

CMU and You Day typically occurs in late September. Students and their parents have the opportunity to not only learn about the meteorology program, but also learn about all aspects of CMU. Free lunch will be provided in a residence hall. Free tickets to the CMU football game will be distributed. Information about this event can be found on the CMU web site as the event approaches.

The College of Science and Technology hosts Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Day in mid-to-late July. At this event, students and their families can find out more about the meteorology program, and attend a lab demonstration showcasing our software used for weather analysis in the meteorology lab. Free lunch is provided in a residence hall. Information about this event can be found on the CST web site as the event approaches.

Appointments to visit CMU can be scheduled online through the university's Admissions Office. The staff can arrange campus tours, and even contact a meteorology faculty member for you to schedule a visit to our program. We advise you to contact Admissions ahead of time to schedule a visit so that we can make sure someone is available to accomodate you. It is also possible to schedule a visit to the program by contacting one of the meteorology faculty directly, via the contact information available on the meteorology program's Faculty web page.

As you consider the meteorology program, please take a look at the Science and Technology Residential College (STRC). This program allows students in science majors to live together in Woldt Residence Hall. These students receive special benefits, such as early registration for science courses, special guest speakers, faculty-student dinners, and overnight field trips. Typically, several incoming meteorology students elect to live in the Residential College, with some staying in the program for multiple years. Information about the Science and Technology Residential College can be found on the STRC web site.
